  1. Don't forget that if your grandfather from your FATHER'S SIDE was from Italy and hadn't naturalized as an American Citizen BEFORE your father was born, then you are 100% eligible to have Italian Citizenship and retain your current citizenship (Dual Citizenship). Of course, if your father was from Italy and he didn't naturalize as an American and give up his Italian Citizenship, you are eligible as well. All you will need is to get their (father or grandfather) birth certificate from Italy. If you contact "Commune" in the town that they were born, Commune will gladly send you a copy.

  2. Thank you .. so grateful you decided to do a video to actually “look out” for people. I’m a regular working person who will have a pension and am currently considering retiring in Mediterranean. Likely Portugal or Malta. The best way to go about Visas seems daunting, and shortcuts like a golden visa are tempting but would deplete my IRAs. God bless you. Thanks again.

  3. So what are the Italian residency program requirements for a US Citizen and what legit website(s) can give me the details as to how one can apply and what I need to show etc.?

  4. If I am going to buy a home in Italy , i will be need to have a visa every time i am going to come Italy or I will had open visa or something because I want to make it for a vacation times and come from time to time but i will stay in my home country

  5. Hello Italian Party Girl ! This caught my eye, however, I had already watched it. But I picked up the facts this time. Thank You. $31,000 Euros okay. LOL I bought a DNA test. No known Italian relatives. All I know is all of my Grandparents immigrated to America. The DNA test goes back centuries. Fun to know regardless of results. Oh, I know, discretion, but most people know the Romans / Italians populated many bloodlines 🙂 For all I know my Grandparents could have been half Italian. Many times people mention 'Banas' is Greek. LOL No, I don't have the physical characteristics. We shall see !

  6. Panama has a great pensioner rule for residency ..
    1000/month …single person
1250 /month couple. They also guarantee that any future residency rule changes will not effect your residency status. Do you know if Italy has a residency grandfathering rule??

  7. We have a program in Portugal, a similar thing created in 2012, allegedly to attract foreign investors to our country. In a nutshell, the investor has 500.000, buys a property or invests that much in Portugal and has a residency permit for him/her and family. This means access to Schengen space. Is a Scammer heaven, and a solution to a problem that never existed before. Anyway, there is legit info here: http://ari.sef.pt. And of course, there are a lot's of so called specialists selling all kinds of services to whoever wants to blow money with them. In fact, any serious real estate agency can point anyone interested in the right direction. 🙂

  9. Greece has a Golden Visa program. The minimum investment is $250,000. They're supposedly the cheapest one in Europe. If you do that then you get a visa that allows you to go anywhere in the Schengen area without having to go to or live in Greece at all, as long as you own your property. Including your family. But there are big legal fees and you're dealing with legal documents in Greek!

  10. I have dual citizenship, Italian/US. I lived in Italy for a year and couldn't get residency, open a bank account or even get an Italian ID. I spent so much time waiting in lines. Finally, I was so sick of paying excess fees bringing over money from the US, I decided to move to China. I enjoy your videos. I would like to make my way back to Italy. Where are you located?

  11. Thank you so much for this – super helpful. I'm just starting my research. The 38,000 euros – is this a one off sum for a couple – i.e. you have to have it in the bank when you apply for the residency? – also I read this below from Studio Legale Metta – do you know if there's any minimum for passive income? We're paying off mortgages in Aus and saving a buffer fund to stand behind the passive property rental income – Thank you!! 🙂 ——————- " Financial Resources: bring documented evidence of sufficient financial resources, such as recent bank account statements. For a single person the minimum financial requirement is EUR 31,000 (or equivalent home currency amount). For a married couple it is EUR 38,000. An additional 20% is necessary for each dependent child.

Passive Income: the Italian Consulate wants to verify your documented ability to generate sufficient financial resources, other than employment, which can be reasonably expected to continue over time. Some examples of passive income are: property rental income, pensions, social security benefits, corporate dividends, royalties, etc. If your Existing Financial Resources (see item 6 above) are multiples of the minimum required amount, evidence of it can satisfy the Passive Income requirement"

  12. Ahhh…the 'Golden Visa' ~ so provocatively tempting, yes?!? It's "golden", alright…just not in the way or for whom it's made out to be…Fool's Gold, for sure! Thank you for your highly educational post. 😙

  13. Thanks Chris! Definitely sounds like a scam. I had seen for Spain and Portugal if you purchase a home for 350-500k you can get a “golden visa” which somewhat made sense to me but I’d much rather just go the temp residency route.
The 38k for a couple is this for retired couples only?

  14. Interesting information, I d to know how to purchase a house for one Euro? I was told some villages in Italy have a program like that. Also once bought could we get a resident visa?
